PS...International Bowling Museum and Hall Of Fame was located in St. Louis, Missouri, sharing the same building as the St. Louis Cardinals Hall Of Fame Museum until November, 2008, when it was moved to Arlington, Texas and reopened in early 2010. Sorry, hope you get some sleep now ;-)

Wow, was that a long nap...;-) Been a few years since I posted here but here goes. The wheels of progress move slowly but they do move ahead. We have been approved for our grant from the Community Block Grant to move ahead with the gym floor and addition to Town Hall. Melvin Fitzpatrick, our Road Department Supervisor, is moving ahead with lines and curbs. He is also repairing the area around the cardboard recycle bin. As of June 30th, 2014 the new Recycle contractor is M&S company who also picks up dumpsters for Shrewsbury Woods Condominiums. Now, PLEASE recycle. It is single stream, meaning you can mix plastic, newspaper, cans, and glass in the same barrel. And, please, pizza boxes are not recycled...they go in the regular trash. If your not sure what goes in recycle bin, stop by Town Hall and pick up a current flyer. For those grumbling about both Road Department employees working at the same location every day...training...they are now working at separate locations. And please, the SPEED LIMIT is 15 miles per hour, not because the Committee wanted to do that but it was done for YOUR CHILDREN and anyone crossing the streets here. For GOD'S sake, leave earlier if your going to work, and take that extra few SECONDS to get home. Any thing over 20 is going to hurt someone very seriously. And, no, I'm not being a hypocrite, my accident on Crawford Street was due to a medical condition. I have surrendered my Drivers License permanently. I was SO LUCKY no one was hurt but me. Two previous accidents on Crawford Street were another medical emergency (that person hit a tree and over turned their car) and someone late and rushing to work. Sideswiped a car twenty feet past a 25 mile per hour sign. This is the biggest reason the chained off road is that way. With the type of parking on Barker and Belshaw Avenues it would be very dangerous for those 'rushing around'. Unfortunately all of us suffer for the few who just don't care. Speaking of 'uncaring', the other day someone who was late to register their dog for the year got angry at Town Hall and went to their car, slammed the door loud enough to be heard inside Town Hall, peeled out and flew up the street. I would like to know how everyone else is responsible for that person not registering their dog. This particular incident has forced the Township Committee to endorse an amendment to the Animal Licensing Ordinance to charge a monthly fee for each late month past the 31st of January. Come on, people, it's almost JULY. Repeat offenses will be dealt with by the Township Court located in Red Bank, NJ. THE REASON FOR THE LICENSING LAW IS TO ERADICATE RABIES. A few weeks ago a child was bitten by a dog. The dog had it's shots so no panic. Also, Shrewsbury Township has a leash law for dogs. That means DON'T take your dog to the BIG FIELD and throw frisbees so the dog gets exercise. Take the dog to the beach or to a park where they allow that, please!! For those not picking up after their dog, when you do get caught and issued a summons, THE JUDGE DOES NOT LIKE THAT!!! It is a health hazard to all. If you don't have the stomach to do that it will be costly...sorry...STATE LAW!!! Enough of my ranting and whining, Drive Carefully...the KIDS ARE OUT OF SCHOOL FOR THE SUMMER. Please pay attention when you drive anywhere...it might just save a life...yours.

From the Mayor

This message brought to you by The Mayors Office of Shrewsbury Township, NJ. This is not the official site for Shrewsbury Township but I am the Mayor so I can blog here with semi-official stuff. For instance parking has been eliminated on Belshaw Avenue from the corner with Barker to the first marked space on Belshaw. This particular intersection has had many blocking problems when cars are parked on the one side and either landscapers or garbage truck block the street. Sorry if this inconveniences anyone but was necessary from a traffic point of view.
You will also notice on the center islands, five new trees to replace the dying ones overwatered due to our extremely wet weather we had. Thank you Conrad Smith Nurseries, Tinton Falls, NJ.
Also please know what goes to bulk area and what goes elsewhere...sticks and branches cut to four foot lengths and tied in a bundle is ok....loose piles of branches not allowed. Cardboard is now recyclable and should go to Township cardboard area at Township Garage on Crawford Street. Also if you trim flowers and bushes put clippings in large lawn or garbage bag, tie it closed and put out with bulk. Paint or paint cans will not be taken. I would also like to point out that there are only two bulk areas on center islands on Barker.
Bulk should not be put out until 6 PM the night before (Sunday for Monday pickup and Wednesday for Thursdays pickup). And please keep the emergency access lanes free of debris whether you are trimming trees or cleaning out that shed. If there's ever a fire and trucks need backdoor access and your blocking it, it will be a BIG fine.

Another quick note then I'm outta here! It has been decided that our little railroad track will become a commuter line to Lakewood. I must say there's enough bus service for Lakewood that this whole idea is just WRONG!!

Let's see...what's happened since 2007? Oh, yeah, I was appointed a Committeeman for Shrewsbury Township. On top of that I was also appointed Deputy Mayor. And don't confuse us with The Borough Of Shrewsbury. Heavens No !!! We are the Township of Shrewsbury...one square mile of multifamily dwellings and one business...The Breakfast Club, formerly known as the Hideaway or just 'The Little Store'. It's not 'Utopia' but it's definitely home.
I lived in Vail Homes from 1950 to 1953 while my dad was stationed at Fort Monmouth. It was called Camp Vail back then and I guess the name sticks, hence the Alfred Vail Mutual Association, one third of the three sections of Shrewsbury Township. The other two are Shrewsbury Arms Apartments, and Shrewsbury Woods Condominiums. It is a quiet little town and we hope to keep it that way. Yeah, we have our quirks, but all in all we're a good-hearted lot.
I will be updating this frequently now...besides, I'm running for election November 4th and this is a way to reach out to my fellow Township residents. Talk to you soon!

Could Spring Be Here???

Saturday, March 24th, 2007. Volume 1, Issue 1

A Nice Place To Live But...
Jeez, don't ya just love when the neighbors start yelling and arguing...outdoors. For some darn reason they think the whole neighborhood wants to hear them screaming "your no f***ing good, get the h**l out of here" which you can hear loudly any where in town. Lovely! Oh, and the loud truck that wakes everyone by setting off every car alarm in the township, we salute you... love those who disturb the peace (Midasize it, please!)
And please, if you know someone who allows their dogs to 'poop' in our front yards, there is a 'pooper-scooper' law in effect in Shrewsbury Township. There are a lot of children in town and they really don't need that to roll around in, now do they? Call or visit the Township Zoning Officer at the Township Office in the Community Center if you would like to report an offender. We do not have a 'regular' police force (Shrewsbury Township is patrolled by the New Jersey State Police) therefore violations such as parking, trash not in dumpster or a container, and, yes, the initial complaint about pet nuisances, such as smelly crap next to a walkway or porch.

Weather For The Week, In A Nutshell
Welcome to SPRING...seems mother nature gave us our last snow and is rewarding us with some milder weather and a little rain.
Ok, girls, time to take off the winter clothes (hehehe... ;-) .

Observation of the week: 3/24/07
I get a kick out of the 'unknowing' who just love to park in the driveways of Shrewsbury Arms, right along side the orange painted curb. Be forewarned...I was a volunteer fireman, and if there's a fire in one of the buildings, when the firetruck comes and sees your car in the driveway, he may push it (oops, did you lock it and put it in Park?) out of the way with his firetruck to get to the back parking lot to save someone or put out a boiler fire (orange curb means 'NO PARKING-FIRE ZONE'). At the least it will be ticketed and/or towed by the police officer in charge of the fire scene (I'm sure your lease has a clause about abiding by the building parking regulations, which means parking in between the lines in the provided parking spaces, not wherever your 'lazy a*s' wants to park it!).

Trivia Question Of The Week! 3/24/07
Where is the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame? (Answer in next weeks edition of The Shrewsbury Township Gazette.)

Editors Note
Please, if you want to make a statement (politico's welcome as are members of 'officialdom'), have any news, gossip, gripe (you want to 'pitch a b***h' about anything!), be my guest. But be forewarned...Offensive language (without the little * thingies) and offensive, hurtful or downright mean comments won't be there for long...this is edited frequently each day.
I will be adding content, news, and pictures shortly...Stay tuned for a look at your town. I am trying to offer a community forum here with the benefit of remaining anonymous...a sort of get together of friends, neighbors (yes, even the 'strange' ones...hehehe) and interested and/or disinterested parties...party...be right there.

Happy Holidays to All

Because there is no official Shrewsbury Township web site I thought I would try my hand at updating our friends on things happening around the Township. I will not post official Shrewsbury Township news here because I'm not an official. Pretty clear, eh? I will encourage anyone to submit any info here they think is newsworthy, or information your neighbors just have to have. I will not at this time post my opinions because I am brutally honest with my outlook on life and get in trouble more often than not with words. I am hoping that this blog will be an education to all on where and with whom we all live and sometimes work with. You know, small town closeness, something usually reserved for the mid-west. We live in the most densely populated state in America along with some of the highest utility rates, car insurance, you name it, we pay more. Hmmmm...maybe we all need a load of humor, who knows.
Hope everyone has a 'brilliant' Holiday and a Happy New Year to all.
